The Things That Melt Your Heart

What are the little things that make a shift for you? What simple details, no matter how subtle, light up a corner of your life?

Be present in all things and thankful for all things- Maya Angelou

Lately I have been grateful to notice that in our daily existence, little things are sprinkled around us all the time- little nuggets of inspiration, simple gestures of love, the warmth of sunshine that hits your skin at the right moment.

Maybe all of our moments are filled with those, if we just make a conscious effort to notice.

Will you allow the quiet of the early morning to be a gentle nudge to be grateful for another day?

Will you open your heart to the things that seem to want to melt it to tenderness?

For me it is the sight of the sturdy, beautiful shelf that my husband built just when I am annoyed at him.

The perfect song, with the perfect lyrics and beat- at the moment when the day begins to feel heavy.

The pleasant feeling of my son’s little hands in mine- when I begin to feel overwhelmed with the day’s task.

A total stranger letting me pass the highway, or holding a door open for me when my hands are full.

The view and feel of outer space being relayed to us, made possible by the recent travel to the moon. Oh how this change my perspective. Just when I though that I am big, and life is so serious- then realizing that we are tiny speck of a vast nothingness- yet we are lovingly held in perfect divine balance. All is well.

What Melts You?

What are the little things for you? Can you consider that the thing that makes you smile a little, makes your heart dance a little, the tiny moment that makes you feel a little bit better- is not random. It was sent to make you feel loved.

And through those little things, we are sustained. Moment by moment, by moment.
